Herbal Therapy & Lab Assessment

Personalized support, informed by your body

Your body has a way of communicating when something is out of balance. Changes in energy, digestion, sleep, mood, hormones, or overall vitality can leave you wondering what your body needs—and where to begin.

At Blossom Wellness Centre, we take a personalized, whole-person approach to wellness. Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, functional lab assessments, and health-tracking technology can each offer a different perspective on your health.

By bringing these tools together with your health history, symptoms, and individual goals, we can develop a more informed approach to supporting your well-being.

The goal isn’t to chase every number or symptom. It’s to better understand your body and create a thoughtful, individualized plan.

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Traditional wisdom. Individualized care.

Chinese herbal medicine has been used for centuries to support health and restore balance. Within Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), herbal formulas are selected according to an individual’s presentation, constitution, and pattern of imbalance.

Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, herbal therapy considers the relationships between your symptoms, overall health, and the patterns identified during your consultation.

Chinese herbal medicine may be incorporated into a personalized wellness plan to support concerns such as:

  • Menstrual health, fertility, and reproductive wellness

  • Perimenopause and menopause transitions

  • Stress, sleep, and emotional well-being

  • Digestive health and regularity

  • Energy, vitality, and healthy aging

Herbal recommendations are individualized and may be used alongside acupuncture or as a separate component of care.

All herbs and formulas are selected with attention to your health history, medications, and other supplements. Herbal products can have side effects and interactions, so coordination with your medical team may be appropriate.

Our approach emphasizes:

  • Identifying potential nutritional gaps

  • Choosing supplements based on your individual needs

  • Reviewing ingredients, quality, and appropriate use

  • Considering possible interactions with medications and other supplements

  • Reassessing your plan as your needs change

The intention is to create a focused, manageable supplement routine that supports your broader wellness goals.

Nutritional Supplements

Targeted support for your individual needs

Supplements can be a useful part of a wellness plan when they address a specific need. But more is not always better—and taking multiple products without a clear purpose can make it difficult to know what is helping.

We can review your current supplement routine, discuss your health goals, and consider whether targeted nutritional support may be appropriate.

Functional Lab Assessments

More information to help guide your next steps

When appropriate, specialized laboratory testing can provide additional information to consider alongside your symptoms, health history, and clinical care.

Different tests look at different aspects of health. We can discuss what a test measures, what questions it may help explore, and whether the information is likely to be useful for your situation.

Available testing options:

  • DUTCH Test — Hormone & Stress-Related Markers

  • HTMA — Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

  • GI-MAP — Gastrointestinal Microbial Assessment

  • OATS — Organic Acids Test

DUTCH Test — Hormone & Stress-Related Markers

The DUTCH test (Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones) assesses selected hormone metabolites and related markers using urine samples. Depending on the panel, it may provide information about sex hormones, hormone metabolism, and selected markers related to adrenal function.

It may be considered when exploring questions related to hormonal transitions, including perimenopause and menopause. Results need to be interpreted in context and do not replace a medical evaluation.

HTMA — Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

HTMA analyzes selected minerals and certain elements in a hair sample. It is sometimes used as an additional source of information when exploring mineral patterns or potential exposure to certain elements.

Hair testing has important limitations and can be affected by external contamination and other factors. It should not be used on its own to diagnose a mineral deficiency, toxicity, or other medical condition.

GI-MAP — Gastrointestinal Microbial Assessment

GI-MAP is a stool-based test that uses DNA analysis to assess selected gastrointestinal microorganisms and other markers included in the test panel.

Depending on the findings and your symptoms, results may help inform a discussion about digestive health and whether further medical evaluation is warranted. A positive finding does not automatically mean that treatment is needed; results must be interpreted alongside symptoms and appropriate clinical guidance.

OATS — Organic Acids Test

The Organic Acids Test (OAT) measures selected organic acids in urine. These markers can offer information about certain metabolic processes and may sometimes provide clues that warrant further investigation.

OAT results are not a stand-alone diagnosis of nutritional deficiencies, mitochondrial dysfunction, yeast overgrowth, or other conditions. Any potential findings need to be considered in context and, when indicated, confirmed through appropriate medical testing.

Testing options, availability, ordering requirements, and costs can vary. We’ll discuss the purpose and limitations of a test before you decide whether to pursue it.

At-Home Health Tracking

Notice patterns. Make more informed decisions.

Lab testing offers a snapshot in time. Wearable devices and at-home tracking tools can help you observe patterns over days, weeks, or months.

When relevant to your goals, we can discuss how to use data from tools such as:

Oura Ring

Oura tracks measures such as sleep, activity, resting heart rate, and overnight temperature trends. These patterns may help you reflect on sleep quality, recovery, stress, and changes over time.

Mira Hormone Tracking

Mira is an at-home hormone-monitoring system that measures selected hormone markers in urine, depending on the test wand used. It may be useful for people who want to observe cycle-related hormone patterns or identify their fertile window.

Mira readings are not a substitute for a medical fertility evaluation, and results should be interpreted with an understanding of what the specific markers can—and cannot—tell you.

Tracking tools are most useful when the information answers a meaningful question. More data does not always mean more clarity.

Bringing the Pieces Together

Your health is more than a test result.

No single lab value, supplement, symptom, or wearable-device reading tells the whole story.

At Blossom Wellness Centre, we consider the bigger picture: your health history, daily experiences, goals, and the patterns that emerge over time. When appropriate, we can use this information to help guide discussions about Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional support, lifestyle considerations, and collaboration with your other healthcare providers.

Our approach is thoughtful, individualized, and grounded in the understanding that your needs may change through different seasons of life.

Whether you’re navigating hormonal changes, working toward digestive balance, exploring fertility, or simply looking for a more informed approach to your well-being, we’ll help you consider which tools may be relevant to your journey.

Begin with a Consultation

You don’t need to know which test to order or which supplement to take before you begin.

We’ll start with your concerns, your health history, and what you hope to understand or improve. From there, we can discuss whether herbal therapy, nutritional supplementation, lab assessment, or health tracking may be appropriate.

Your care begins with listening—and builds from there.
